"Wings", edito in Italia come "Il Piccolo Popolo decolla", fa parte della "Bromeliad Trilogy", composta dai romanzi "Truckers" del 1989, "Diggers", "Wings", entrambi del 1990.

"[...] The humans below tried shining coloured lights at it, and playing tunes at it, and eventually just speaking to it in every language known to humans [...]". Questa descrizione ricorda una delle scene principali di "Incontri Ravvicinati del Terzo Tipo" di Steven Spielberg, nella quale il contatto con gli alieni viene stabilito grazie a luci colorate ed alla musica.

Edito in Italia nel 1993 da Salani nel ciclo "Piccolo Popolo", "Il Piccolo Popolo decolla" è stato tradotto da Andrea Di Gregorio.
Nel 1995 è stato pubblicato da TEA Editore nella collana TeaDue.
